About Me

Hi, I’m Nicholas Joe, Great to meet you.

As a second-generation Chinese-Canadian, growing up in Vancouver was very interesting. However both my parents came from Newzealand. As a result, my upbringing was far more western than the rest of my friends whose parents came from China. This being the case I never quite fit in with my fellow Asian peers. I didn’t have to take any extra tutoring and I wasn’t forced into anything that I didn’t want to do. As well my parents mostly English to my brothers and I growing up. This resulted in me having very weak Cantonese. The only thing that I connected me to my Asian heritage was food. Growing up I was exposed to a lot of different Asian foods and I wasn’t a picky eater. So this caused me to have a love of Asian food and allowed me to still feel ‘Asian’ in some way.  Today I try to share my experiences and recommendations of the various different Asian foods from around the world through my blog (which you’re currently reading) “Till We Eat Again”.
