How To Eat Ramen

We all know what Ramen is. We ate it whether it came instant or from a restaurant. Today I’m going to teach you proper techniques (yes there is a technique) for eating ramen!

1. Slurp!!

Believe it or not, slurping actually helps enhance the flavour of the noodles, in fact, it’s considered polite in Japan to slurp your noodles. It means that the ramen is good!

2. Eat in Pairs

I know some people who always eat in sections. Carbs first, then protein, then blah, blah. If you’re doing that with ramen stop it! The ramen is meant to be eaten together. Take some noodles then eat some pork belly, then enjoy some broth. The sum is greater than it’s parts.

Fusion-‘Ha’! Is Asian Fusion Food Ruining Classic Dishes?

I’ve been noticing lately a lot of different Asian Fusion foods. I’m also seeing two camps of thought here. One being “WHAT ARE THEY DOING THEY”RE RUINING ASIAN CUSINE!!!!” or I hear “DUDE LOOK, THERE’S KOREAN BBQ IN ON NACHOS!”. Now I disagree with both camps to some extent. The Asian food purest don’t want anyone to mess with the original cuisine. The issue with that is that we’ve been doing it forever. We’ve been taking recipes and flavours and cooking techniques since we could cook. If a combination of two different foods makes some genuinely taste better than I’m all for it. On the other side, we got people who think if you mash two things two it’ll just taste better. For example, in Vancouver, we got something called Pho Nacho’s, and its exactly what it sounds like. You put Pho ingredients on Nachos. Now Beef I can get behind but bean sprouts? MINT! First off bean sprouts are crunchy and tasteless why would I want that on Nachos? It was meant to kill soak up soup and cut through the fat in Pho. I’m not even going to argue about mint.
